  1. Where is the Building Department?
    The Building Department is located at:
    1660 Mission Street
    San Francisco, CA 94103

  2. Who is in charge of the Building Department?
    Amy Lee is Acting Director but there are many people in charge of different departments and in different capacities.
     
  3. How many sets of drawings do I need to submit to the Building Department?
    A minimum of 2 sets of plans are required, reproduced on a minimum size of 11x17. As many as 5 sets of plans can be required depending on which of the different options of plan check services are chosen.
     
  4. What is the permit cost based upon?
    All permit fees are based on Table 1-A of the California Building Code. Each local jurisdiction has the authority to make adjustments to this fee schedule based on the financial needs of each community.
     
  5. Can I speed up my permit approval by talking to the Mayor?
    Not unless your name is Arnold Schwarzenegger.
